Sickness. No other piece of hell on earth can compare. The life defying heat from the very breath of death makes it vividly clear that this is something far from the will of God for his child. Only a deranged father could ever wish this kind of pain, agony and flirtation with death on his own child. A loving Father would search heaven and earth to find someone and someway worthy to pay the ultimate price to deliver his child to him saved, healed and whole. Voluntarily, the Son would step to his Father as a willing soldier ready to go to war for the freedom of others and to go far and beyond the call of duty to pay the price for freedom. The sheer humiliation of having the Roman soldiers strip him of not only his clothing, but manhood and dignity. To be brutally degraded and unmercifully beaten within an inch of his life, only to save that inch to be crucified. While the whip, with it’s ends filled with metal and bone fragments ripped the very flesh from his body. Thirty nine devastating times, one after another to the excitement and delight of the soldiers who had no clue that this was for them too.
