The celebrated Crimson Tide. Advertised and promoted all
season as one of the top teams in the nation. Great plays and players
of the week, dominating the news game after exciting game. Covers of
Sports Illustrated, a Quarterback with the celebrity of Elvis. Only one loss to L.S.U. Easily avenged by beating the
cross state rival and going on to bigger and better things. A plan of
disrespect and arrogance. A plan scheduled to be released upon an
Auburn team that was in their league, but not in their class. A plan
that would not see the light of day. A counter plan that would turn
loose an Auburn defense on a non suspecting celebrity and baptize him
deep in the sod of Pat Dye field.
A relentless attack
that would send the Alabama Faithful for early exits and the Auburn
nation into a carnivorous frenzy. This Auburn team proved itself to be
too prepared, too fired up, “ Too Fast - Too Furious “. So the Iron
Bowl stays put in the village on the plains.
The
ordination of Pat Dye field will forever be remembered for the elephant
hide that was used as the final fertilizer of 2005. Now you can renew
your memories of the eleven sacks, four beat downs in a row and the
fact that Alabama should have never sent a boy to do a teams job. |
